Faige Hershcovich

מרת פייגא בת יעקב זימל ע״ה
Nurse · Midwife · Eishes Chayil · Montreal

For decades, her hands greeted new Jewish life at its very first breath — and her heart never had less than room for one more. A quiet pillar of Montreal's Anash community, she gave at every threshold of life, from the very first moment to the very last.

“She stood at the threshold of life and helped it take its first breath. Machon Faige stands at the threshold of a Yiddishe neshama— and helps it take its first steps in Torah.”

Her life

A warmth that filled every room.

Faige Hershcovich was a treasured member of Montreal's Anash community — a woman whose hands were always busy doing for someone else, and whose heart always had room for one more. To her family she was everything; to her community she was a quiet pillar you could always lean on.

She never sought the spotlight, and never needed it. Her greatness was the everyday kind — the kind measured in warm meals, in gentle words, in showing up. The kind a family never stops feeling, and a community never forgets.

The first breath

A life spent bringing life.

For decades, Faige served as a nurse and a midwife, and merited to help bring countless Jewish children into the world — greeting each new neshama at its very first moment, with steady hands and a full heart.

The final kindness

Chesed shel emes.

And she gave of herself at life's other threshold too, serving on her city's chevra kadisha — accompanying Yidden with dignity and tenderness, to the very end. The truest kindness: the kind that can never be repaid.

Why her name

A midwife's calling, carried into chinuch.

A midwife helps a new life arrive and take its first breath. A rebbi helps a young neshama take its first steps in Torah. It is the same sacred work — one generation gently handing life to the next.

Machon Faige was founded by her grandson to continue that calling: to serve the rebbeim and morahs who raise the next generation, and to make her memory a blessing that keeps on giving.

Our mission

Building the tools that let chinuch flourish.

Machon Faige exists to make life a little lighter for the people who carry Yiddishkeit forward — one classroom, one lesson, one talmid at a time. We build real, working tools for the quiet, giving work of chinuch, starting with the rebbeim and morahs who do it every single day.

Every project we build starts with the same question Faige would have asked: who's tired, who's overwhelmed, and how can we actually help?See what that's become so far below.

Real, working tools

Not demos, not concepts — software a rebbi or morah can actually open and use tomorrow morning.

One classroom at a time

Built around the way chinuch is actually done, not a generic tool bent to fit it after the fact.

Her question, every time

Who's tired, who's overwhelmed, and how can we actually help — before anything gets built.

Her legacy

The giving never stops.

New life

She helped bring countless Jewish children into the world — each one greeted like her own.

True chesed

She served her community with devotion — from the first breath to the last.

A living legacy

Machon Faige carries her giving into the world of chinuch — one classroom at a time.

RebbisDesk

A preparation desk for rebbeim and morahs — worksheets, quizzes, source sheets and lesson plans, built around the way Torah is actually taught. Every draft prepared on it carries her name with it.

The next project

Machon Faige is just getting started — more tools are already on the way, each one built the same way this one was: starting from a real person who's tired, and a real way to help.

May her neshama have an aliyah

May every lesson prepared, every source learned, and every child inspired through this work be a continued aliyah for her neshama — until the day we are reunited with her, with the coming of Moshiach, may it be now.
